The church bears witness to the past grandeur of Morlaàs, then capital of Béarn from 1080 to 1260 and residence of the Viscounts. The western portal, a jewel of Romanesque art, is one of the church's outstanding features: the statuary depicts Christ in majesty, surrounded by the 24 elders of the Apocalypse and the Apostles in the portal splayings.
