Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

Departure point Start from the Espace Muséographique car park. Take the path towards the Peyroutou farm.
  • Step 2 :

When you reach the RD946, immediately turn left onto the gravel path as it rises. Head towards the ridge path.
  • Step 3 :

On the higher ground, relax and admire the panoramic view from which you can see the church of Garos on the south side. In October, don't make too much noise, as on the northern slope below, a goshawk is hidden just above the Moulin dam.
  • Step 4 :

The dyke and the mill are well worth a diversion and guarantee you a moment of tranquillity and escape, where reflections and colours mingle in a pleasantly flowery setting. What's on your mind? The diversions was well deserved, wasn't it? Finally rested, you need to retrace your steps and head back up the hill towards the ridge. On your right at the top of the road, walk along the edge of the wood to the level of the meadow.
  • Step 5 :

Continue along the ridge path, also known as "La Pélude", and admire the view (information: pigeon hut on the ground to your left on the ridge).
  • Step 6 :

After the farm, turn left down a dirt track to the road (RD45) and cross the Rance bridge. From the road, continue straight on for 700 m.
  • Step 7 :

Before the climb, take the dirt track on your left and follow it to the RD946.
  • Step 8 :

About 200 m further on, on your right, you'll find a berm overlooking the main road (on the left) from which you can admire part of the Pyrenees mountain range. Alternatively, cross the road carefully and take the RD262 towards Garos and its pottery museum.
  • Step 9 :

Go through a small wooded area and along the cemetery to the church in Garos (one of the highest points in the Soubestre). Keep going and you've arrived.

The wheat millstone was dismantled in 1966, but the barley millstone was restored by the miller, Mr Rey, in order to grind wheat and produce the flour of yesteryear. Open to visitors.
