Listed historic monument in its entirety, exterior and all interiors. Rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries on the remains of a medieval fortress, it houses the most important collection of authentic 18th-century interiors in the northern Pyrénées-Atlantiques region.
Time has left the Château de Mascaraàs with a vast array of pewter objects: pitchers of various shapes, jugs, bottles, dishes and cutlery.
All for the table? but also broths, spice boxes, syringes for various uses, anointing jars dating back to the 17th century, small bowls for bloodletting, astonishing instruments for collecting urine or hot water bottles for heating potions. But also pewter from the world of pharmacy and medicine.
