Itinerary

  • Step 1 :

    From Place d'Auga, walk slightly uphill towards Place de la Mairie, then turn left at the foot of the meadows. Stay on the main road, which becomes a gravel path, then join Viven via the tarmac road. Pass in front of the town hall and continue straight ahead, crossing the D208 towards Argelos and the Luy de France valley. Turn left after the bridge over the A65 motorway and follow the track, which becomes a road, to the church in the centre of Argelos.

  • Step 2 :

    In front of Argelos Church, take the Hayinotte path for 250 metres, then the track on the left down into the wooded Basta valley. Cross the ford and stay on the left-hand path to climb back up to the top of the hill via a steep, uneven track. At the crossroads, turn left onto a very long tarmac section, which begins with a descent towards the Luy de France valley.

  • Step 3 :

    After the bridge over the Basta, turn right onto the narrow RD214, pass under the A65 motorway and, at the top of the hill, turn left onto Chemin du Lanot. Continue straight on until you reach the hillside lake (picnic area at the foot of the dam). Turn left and cross the RD 208 towards Chemin de Bazeillac, then left towards the bridge over the Luy de France.

  • Step 4 :

    Turn right towards the mill and the Auga agricultural plain. After 500 metres, turn left and then immediately right onto a gravel track. Turn left at the next two junctions to enter the woods at the foot of the hillside. A final short tarmac ramp leads you to the D40 crossroads, where you can turn left to reach the square under the plane trees of Auga.
