  • Distance : 2.8km
  • Public : Famille - Famille avec poussette - Tous publics
Situated between Pau and Tarbes, this immense water reserve extends over four communes on the borders of the Hautes-Pyrénées and Pyrénées-Atlantiques departments, in a very gently undulating countryside environment. Completed in 2007, Lac du Gabas already offers innovative facilities that make it a place to visit, stroll around and find out more, designed and developed for all publics. Let's discover the small lake, located upstream from the large Gabas lake.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

Take the path alongside the car park down to the small lake. This lake upstream of Lake Gabas is at a constant level, while the large lake is used for low-water and irrigation. No-kill fishing is permitted. Stunning view of the Pyrenees mountain range. Chicane at the start and finish. The path is well marked, the ground is hard with a grassy strip in the middle; there are a few uneven areas. On the right bank, the path runs alongside a wooded hillside. A footbridge spans the upper end of the lake, an area of birdwatching and tranquillity. The left bank is bordered by fields. There is no difference in level. There are numerous benches throughout this section. Reach the Péré mill, recently restored by the Luquet commune. Rejoin the road. Stay behind the guardrail and return to the car park.
