Enjoy this very easy walk in the heart of the Béarn countryside, on the plateau between the corn crops. It is a flat place for corn cultivation because here corn is king and places the department in the 2nd national rank. The farmers of the department were the first to exploit the
hybrid corn in France. The farms very often practice the "polyculture - breeding", that is to say that the corn is produced on the farm and that it feeds the herd. The territory has a large number of palmiped farms and produces as many beef cattle as milk cattle. A few rare small vineyards persist and they produce local wines of good reputation... Madiran is not far away.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

Start near the village hall in the northern part of Garlède, on the edge of the D 236. Take the main road north for 180 metres, then turn left. After 600 metres, leave the tarmac road and turn left onto a dirt track through the farmland. Follow this track, which winds its way to the tarmac road.
  • Step 2 :

Take the road on the right for 750 m, then turn left at the first gravel road leading to the small Louts valley. Stay on the main road heading south at the next two intersections until you reach the tarmac road. Turn left onto a wide gravel track.
  • Step 3 :

Turn left again towards the row of oak trees, turn right after crossing the stream, then immediately left after the copse to climb back up towards the road. When you reach the tarmac, turn right for 170 metres, then take the dirt track on the left leading to Garlède between the cornfields.
  • Step 4 :

Turn left onto the grassy track towards the village or stay on the tarmac road and turn left at the next junction to reach the village.
