Magnificent route in the deep countryside. Nice little climbs, long straights into the wind, undergrowth of oaks and conifers: all the ingredients are there to make this a most enjoyable outing.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

From the church, turn right (east) and take the lane opposite. After the houses, follow the chemin des noisettes. Be careful, the descent is gravelly. At the bottom, turn left, then right twice. Cross Baleix.
  • Step 2 :

Follow the Castain-Mayou path. Nice climb, put all gears to the left! At the top, turn right. The descent to Anoye is pleasant, but beware of pebbles and ruts. Cross the bridge, then turn right up the Chemin de l'Abbaye. At the top, turn left as far as the crossroads.
  • Step 3 :

Turn right and drive onto a large plateau. At the four winds (it soon becomes clear why!) continue straight ahead. After the bridge, leave the road to the left. Turn left onto a track after a farm. Go straight on, cross the road and go down the Hau track. Cross the stream and climb towards Abère on a good track.
  • Step 4 :

At the summit, turn right between two pebble buildings and go around the plain. Once on the tarmac, pedal on and at the crossroads, turn right down the valley. After crossing the Grand Lées, fork left onto a track lined with conifers. Climb the steep ascent.
  • Step 5 :

Before the magnificent oak tree, take the grassy track and follow it down into the undergrowth. Continue downhill on the track. After the bridge, take the stony track on the right. It climbs steeply to the road. Turn right, then left and continue straight ahead on the local road. Cross the D7 and follow the track as far as Lespourcy church.
