This tour will introduce you to Poursiugues-Boucoue, 2 unified communes that belonged to the Tursan terroir in the neighboring Landes department until the French Revolution. Situated on the route de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, this Béarn commune stands at the gateway to Béarn, and boasts a fine heritage, including the 15th-16th-century Chapelle Saint-Laurent and the parish church of Saint-Loup-de-Sens, built by Séron (architect in St Sever) in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

    From the salle des fêtes car park, take the tarmac path. At the crossroads, turn left.
  • Step 2 :

    At the next crossroads, turn right onto Chemin du Gué.
  • Step 3 :

    At this junction, take advantage of the picnic area with fruit trees. Turn left onto the GR65 (the route to Santiago de Compostela). From here, the old fortified town of Pimbo (25 mins away) can be seen on the right. Continue along the path and you'll find a watering hole at the side of the road at the ‘Loustaou’ house. At the top of the hill, at the crossroads ‘Boucoue’ (Château Lassalle), turn right and then immediately left onto the Chemin de Lassalle.
  • Step 4 :

    At the farm, turn right onto chemin de Cabette. At the crossroads, turn right onto chemin de Cabette as far as the ‘Cabette’ house. Then turn left through a wood.
  • Step 5 :

    At the crossroads, on the moor, turn left onto the Chemin de la Lande, then right onto the Chemin de Lassalle, catching up with the GR65. At the crossroads, turn left onto chemin de Lassalle, then left again onto the RD32.
  • Step 6 :

    On the left of the calvary, in 10 minutes you will find the chapel, otherwise take the right of the calvary, on the Chemin de Carrete. Cross a lake, then after 100 m, turn right onto a dirt track through the woods (with a panoramic view of Pimbo) to the start car park.
