This connecting route takes you from the college to the Serres-Castet lake via a specially-designed path. You can enjoy the expanse of the lake or connect with other hikes in the area. Return trip.
Itinerary

  • Step 1 :

    From the bus station (rue des écoles), head towards the banks of the Luy and, before crossing the river, turn right and follow the path along the riverbank. Cross the river via the second footbridge.

  • Step 2 :

    After this, turn left and walk along the other bank of the Luy de Béarn for 100 metres. Leave the Luy and turn right.

  • Step 3 :

    Follow the shaded path behind the rugby field, which you will go around. Take the wooden footbridge and continue along a track for 100 metres. Just before the tarmac road, take the path on the left for 100 metres. Turn right, cross the tarmac road and take the track. Before reaching the road, take the path on the left. After 250 metres, cross the road and rejoin the path on the other side. Continue for 100 metres, then join the road and follow it northwards. After 100 metres, cross the safety barrier on the right via the designated area.

  • Step 4 :

    Cross a small footbridge, then climb up a dirt path that is shaded at first, then through a meadow, to reach the heights of Serres-Castet.

  • Step 5 :

    End of the dirt road. Leave the Belvédère hall (white glass building) on your left. Turn right onto the road heading east. Slight climb to the junction with the D706 departmental road. Continue straight ahead towards Morlaàs and Saint-Castin for 200 metres.

  • Step 6 :

    Turn left and take the tarmac road which descends steeply for 800 metres. At the end of this descent, turn right before the bridge and take the dirt track. Continue along this path for 200 metres and turn right onto the path which climbs for 200 metres. You will arrive at the Serres-Castet lake dam.

    30-hectare irrigation lake, mainly home to carp, pikeperch, pike, perch and roach. Night fishing for carp is permitted on the lake, but fishing from boats is prohibited.
