An easy walk to the bottom of the Gabas valley where you will pass under the imposing viaduct of the A65. Also, you will take a passage under a real vegetal cathedral of old oaks, joining then a wide stony track. The wooded hillside will allow you to spend some time sheltered from the sun.
Itinerary

  • Step 1 :

    Start north of the village of Carrère (parking available nearby or near the town hall in the village). Follow the D42 north for 80 m and take the path on the right towards the small valley of La Palue, which you cross via a small stone ford. The track widens to the left. Then turn right to pass under a veritable cathedral of old oak trees, before joining a wide stone track.

  • Step 2 :

    Turn left, then left again at the next junction. Continue straight ahead after carefully crossing the D42, and stay on the main road to cross the A65 via the bridge overlooking the imposing Gabas viaduct. 400 metres after the bridge, take the track on the left into Claracq.

  • Step 3 :

    The trail descends to the edge of Gabas, passes under the A65 viaduct, and then climbs back up the wooded hillside of Carrère. On the way back to the plateau, pass between the first two houses and then turn right 400 metres further on to return to the starting point.
