Lembeye : le chemin de la ligne

  • on foot : 1h20 - Difficulty Easy
  • Distance : 6km
  • Vertical rise : 130m
  • Public : Famille - Tous publics
It is a journey back in time that this walk from Lembeye evokes. From 1904 to 1931, the Vic-Bilh was crossed by the steam railway line, also known as the "tram line", which linked Pau to Lembeye. Along this path, you will discover several structures (bridges, waterfalls, stone embankments...) that bear witness to this passage.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

From Place Marcadieu, in front of the tourist office, head towards the market hall and Rue Joseph Peyré. Turn right onto rue des Pelhans, then left onto rue de la Gare. Carefully cross rue Joseph Peyré and go straight ahead onto chemin de la Ligne. Continue along this road, and after a track that goes off to the left, at a bend in the road, take a path that starts off to the left. Like a toboggan, it descends steeply at first and then becomes gentler. Cross the tram line and turn left onto it. Leave the wood and walk along the field to the right.
  • Step 2 :

When you reach the Doléris winery (you can visit the Doléris underground winery), turn around and take the opposite route. Stay on the tramway track. The slope is very even and you hardly feel the climb. There are several stone structures along the way. Go through the two gates after the clearing. The line makes a big curve to absorb the gradient gently. Return to the outward route, taking it in the opposite direction to get back to Lembeye.
