From the agricultural plateau to the steep slopes of the Luy de France, on Thèze, Lème and Auga. You will leave from the village of Thèze and through the forest you will sometimes see beautiful hilly landscapes, a mill, or you will cross the Luy de France. This path will allow you to discover the quietness of the countryside of the North Bearn.
Itinerary
  • Step 1 :

Opposite Thèze church, turn left and then immediately right onto Chemin de Touret. Turn left at the first intersection along the hedge, then turn right onto the tarmac road after the woods.
  • Step 2 :

Turn left twice in succession over 50 metres to pass in front of the imposing agricultural silos of Lème, then continue straight on until you cross the D40. Cross the road, turn left, then right after only 100 metres. Descend through the forest, which occasionally reveals a few hilly landscapes. In the plain, stay on the main road at the foot of the hill, then turn right at the fork until you reach the D40.
  • Step 3 :

Turn left and cross the Luy de France. Be careful! Be careful on the D 40 for 1,100 m! Take the first path on the left to enter the agricultural area. Leave the track entering the woods to descend slightly and turn right at the next intersection. 1,000 m further on, turn left then right to reach the mill and the tarmac road.
  • Step 4 :

Turn left, cross the Luy de France river and turn right (Chemin de Bazeillac) at the foot of the hill to the lake dyke. Climb back up towards Thèze via a long, steep, shaded hill.

  • (Built heritage) (Heritage)

St-Pierre Church, with its curious double bell tower: one square, the other cylindrical, joined together like Siamese twins and pierced with loopholes, a reminder that Thèze was fortified in the 16th century. On the D208, take a quick look at the wash house and, a little further on, the Laborde house, which dates back to 1661. In the village near the post office, there is an old building with a dovecote containing 365 nesting boxes, as its former owner, Monseigneur De Lagarrigue, ate one pigeon a day.
