Leaving from the Navailles-Angos town hall, you can reach the Lac du Balaing on this peaceful route. Discovering the lake after such a long effort is a wonderful reward.
Sit back, look out and observe the lights on the lake and the rich lake fauna. But don't forget to retrace your steps back to Navailles. Then the Pyrenees will appear above the treetops. On the way back, you'll discover a landscape so different that you'll forget you took the same route as before.
Itinerary

  • Step 1 :

    Starting from Navailles-Angos town hall, take the main road (RD 206) north towards the school. After 200 metres, when the road turns left, take the street slightly to the right that goes downhill and passes behind the school. Follow this road and after 200 metres, turn right onto the small road that slopes gently downhill. It turns right.

  • Step 2 :

    100 metres after this bend, take a metal gate on the left which leads to a sunken path that descends towards the stream. Cross it via a footbridge, then follow the stream upstream. 50 m after the footbridge, take a path lined with hedges on the left that climbs up the hillside. It becomes steep and leads to a wider path, which you take on the left. Continue climbing gently along a comfortable path that leads to a small road at the top of the hill.

  • Step 3 :

    Turn left onto it. At the first junction, bear slightly right, then after about 200 metres, you will reach the RD 834.

  • Step 4 :

    Cross it and follow it on the left for about 80 metres. Then turn right onto the small road (RD 214) heading west towards Argelos.

  • Step 5 :

    After approximately 400 metres, leave the main road, which veers slightly to the right, and take the ‘upper path’ opposite. After approximately 700 metres, when the path turns and descends into the woods on the left.

  • Step 6 :

    Take the path opposite, which leads to a small road. Turn left, then at the first junction, enter the woods on the left. The track descends steeply and joins the lake shore. Cross the dam to reach the start of the other hiking trails. To return to Navailles, follow the mountain bike signs marked No. 10.
